The EU-Ukraine Dialogue on IP issues took place

On July 6, 2016, the meeting in frames of EU-Ukraine Dialogue was held. The event was dedicated to the discussion on issues of Intellectual Property in Ukraine, running process of reformation of Ukrainian legislation in accordance with provisions of EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. The meeting took place in the building of Ukrainian Government in Kyiv. Among the participants were the representatives of Ukrainian Parliament (the Verkhovna Rada), the Government, State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine on the one side, and the members of European Commission on the another one.

The active part in the Dialogue was also taken by International Trademark Association (INTA), which was involved into preparation process and development of recommendations and propositions for Ukraine. As the member of INTA Anticounterfeiting Committee, IPStyle Director Mariya Ortynska attended the Dialogue as INTA's representative.

During the meeting the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation as to international standards according to the Agreement, implementation of provisions and their practical realization concerning Intellectual Property were discussed. Thus, the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada provided information regarding development of draft laws as to Anti-piracy and Industrial Property as well as E-commerce law. The representatives of Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Health Ministry and Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food were also at the Meeting, as such matters as IP protection in Pharmaceutical sphere and situation regarding counterfeit agrochemicals were also on the agenda. Moreover, work on Copyright legislation, royalti issues as well as protection of rights on Software were discussed.
