IPSTYLE and partners held the second series of lectures for students in preparation for IP Moot Court 2022

On December 15-17 the second series of workshops within Intellectual Property Moot Court 2022 was held. The lectures were held online.

Together with the UBA Students League, the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Scientific Research Institute of Intellectual Property and the U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) we held the second series of lectures and trainings for students in preparation for the IP Moot Court 2022.

On December 16, Mariya Ortynska, IPSTYLE managing partner, trademark and patent attorney and attorney-at-law, gave a lecture for students on "Intellectual Property Licensing in Ukraine", where she shared her own experience as a practicing lawyer.

The topic of Mariya's lecture was chosen for a reason, because the Case of the Moot 2022 will be based exactly on the intellectual property licensing issues, particularly in the fashion industry.

Students actively participated in the discussion, shared their thoughts and asked interesting questions.

During the three days of the workshop students also listened to the following lectures:

  • The landscape of Commercial Law: Contract Law, Dispute Resolution, and IP, Kateryna Oliinyk, Arzinger
  • Arbitration of International Commercial Issues, Drew Roberts, CLDP
  • IP and Innovation: Thoughts from the High-Tech/Startup Industry, Catherine Tornabene, Aurora Innovation
  • Application of IP Law to Commercial Transactions: View from the Financial/Banking Sector, Christina Alam, PNC

To remind, this year we are taking IP Moot Court to a new, international level! The competition will be bilingual: students will have an opportunity to participate in Ukrainian, English or both. The competition will be based on Ukrainian and international law, judges will be Ukrainian and foreign IP professionals, including representatives of USPTO and others. IP Moot Court competitions will begin in the winter of 2021, with oral rounds beginning in the spring of 2022.

IP Moot Court is a cool opportunity to improve your intellectual property law knowledge and public speaking skills and to establish yourself among the top IP professionals and give your career a head start.

Stay tuned! And we hope to see you at Intellectual Property Moot Court 2022!
