Our client, DIGITAL SOLUTIONS LLC, received a long‑awaited certificate for the trademark "Штрафи UA" (eng. FINES UA) in September 2025. Why long‑awaited? Because the registration process for this trademark was non‑standard.
The registration of this trademark is important both for the client and for the entire market of digital automotive services in Ukraine. The "Штрафи UA" brand has existed since 2016 as a nationwide service that enables drivers to check and promptly pay fines, store payment confirmations, issue electronic insurance policies, and more. Therefore, obtaining legal protection for a trademark containing the element "UA" was crucial, as it reflects the national scope of the service and the public trust it enjoys.
The element "UA" in the designation "Штрафи UA" is a two‑letter country code for the state of Ukraine and requires a special procedure to obtain the right to use this element as part of a trademark. It is necessary to provide proper justification for such use, demonstrate continuous commercial activity in Ukraine for more than five years, and meet a number of other requirements in order to obtain an official authorization from the competent Commission.

Finally, by its decision of 27 May 2025, the Commission granted permission to use the "UA" element in the "Штрафи UA" trademark.
