Kazakhstan Patent Office made changes to fees related to trademark registration and renewal

To the attention of TM applicants and registrants in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Patent Office of Kazakhstan (National Institute of Intellectual Property of Kazakhstan, Kazpatent) has made changes in the official fees associated with the registration and renewal of trademarks. This is reported on the website of Kazpatent.

The Patent Office cancelled a 15% discount for filing trademark/collective trademark applications in electronic format. For foreign applicants, the adjustment does not include any real additional fees, as the change is consistent with recent exchange rate fluctuations.

Starting from January 1, 2021, the fee for renewal of trademark registration will increase up to 97,144.32 tenge instead of 27,200.32 tenge. In this case, for small and medium-sized businesses to pay for this service in the period from 01.01.2021 to 31.12.2021 applies benefit -50%, from 01.01.2022 to 31.12.2022 -25% of the set price. From 01.01.2023 the benefit is abolished.

Up to 16,993.76 tenge the fee is increased for each additional class of the ICSU over three, with similar discounts for SMEs provided for 2021 (-50%) and 2022 (-25%).

The new fees will be introduced from the first business day of 2021.
